C.E. Floyd Competes in Boston Dragon Boat Race!

C.E. Floyd recently competed in the 2014 Boston Dragon Boat festival- and came back with some Silver medals! Our company team was formed a few months back with employees from C.E. Floyd, some others from architecture and engineering firms like DiMella Shaffer, AVID Engineers, and Beacon Architecture, and a few other friends to fill the boat; we needed a Drummer, Steersperson, and up to 16 Paddlers! Over the next few weeks, we completed rigorous practices and coaching sessions to learn the different techniques and skills that are required to race a Dragon Boat.
We competed in some time trials on June 14th and placed in the top 20 (out of over 60 teams) for the competition the following day. We kicked off the competition the next morning with our best race yet and qualified for our Division Championship later in the day. Even with a minor crash in the finals, we came through with the Silver Medal!
This was a fantastic experience! Aside from the company bonding and new friendships, we all learned new skills, got to compete in a really unique event, and had a ton of fun! We’ll be defending our title next year!
