C.E. Floyd Lectures at Northeastern!
October 15th, 2014
C.E. Floyd was recently invited to participate in a professional lecture series run by the Northeastern University Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter!
The group holds weekly, chapter-wide meetings on campus, and features a lecture series that highlights industry-relevant projects. By attending, students increase their exposure to current projects, interact with local professionals, and cultivate a better understanding of what types of career opportunities will await them upon graduation.
Chris Merrick and Norm Fournier from our MA office presented on our Spencer Brewery project in a large lecture hall; they covered topics including Spencer’s brewing process in relation to the organization of the building, as well as the challenges and complexities involved in constructing a brewery in a remote location.
The challenges involved things like installation of large, pre-assembled equipment in a completed building, creating a new potable water filtration system, and coordinating with European manufacturing companies. The presentation concluded with some takeaways from the project and was followed up by a question and answer session. The students were very engaged and asked great questions; we hope they enjoyed the session as much as we did!
