TED Talk- Science Inspired Design

November 25th, 2014 by Ashley Buckley

Our November TED Talk had a unique connection to one of our recent projects! Mathieu Lehanneur the French designer of the newly completed Le Laboratoire space in Kendall Square. His TED Talk touched on many of his fusions of technology and imagination, and he talked about the symbiosis between living and synthetic materials.

He demonstrates his ideas for kitchen-sized ecosystem fish farms, living air purifiers, modern medicine innovations, and unique office spaces. Lehannuer partnered with David Edwards, founder of Le Laboratoire, to build an ultra-efficient filtration system that eliminates toxins using plants.

The concepts in this TED Talk are extremely imaginative, and it was interesting to see the connections with Lehanneur's designs here with Le Laboratoire's gallery, lecture hall, and restauraunt spaces, described as a cafe inspired by science. Check out Le Laboratoire soon to see Lehanneur's concepts in action!
